4th and 5th Grade Student Survey

In late spring, 2014, we administered a Survey about stress related areas, to fourth and fifth grade students. This is the third year that fourth and fifth graders have taken this anonymous survey, which complies with State guidelines and the Anti-Bullying mandates. We continue to look for trends and areas of concern around student wellness and the results in 2014 were pretty consistent with the results from the two previous years.  Overall we have students who are happy to be in school and have positive relationships with peers, teachers and parents. The individual comments are not being published, but they are consistent from year to year, with many kids saying that they like to talk to their parents when they have a problem, rather than to a teacher, but many will talk to teachers.  Many students noted that they think the teachers are great, nice and helpful.  This year, one student commented that one teacher yelled.  Another student commented that there was one student who “stressed” him out.  A few said that bringing ice cream back would make Claypit better! Homework continues to be the biggest “stressor” and we continue to be aware of that as a staff, working with the students to address that. Thank you to parents and guardians for sending us students who are well balanced, honest and fun! If you have questions about the survey, please call me at 508-358-7401.
